The Angel Food Ministry is something that Washington Baptist Church wants to do for our community.

Here are some of the questions we'll answer:
  • What is Angel Food Ministry?
  • How do we provide food for such a low cost?
  • What's the catch?
  • Ok - you've convinced me - how do I place my order?
What is Angel Food Ministries?
Started in 1994 in Georgia, Angel Food Ministries is a ministry committed to providing quality food at a reasonable price.
"Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 32 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order."

How do we provide food at such a low cost?
They buy quality food at a low cost, then pass that savings to those who order from them. Each "unit" of food is $25.00. A "unit" of food consists of about 14-18 items from frozen meats and vegetables, to non-perishables such as beans, breakfast mixes and usually one dessert item. The menu varies from month to month.

Each month there are "specials" as well. Once you order a normal unit, you may also order a special. These also vary, but are usually larger packages of frozen meats, steaks, chicken etc. (prices vary for the specials).

What's the Catch?
There isn't one! All you have to do is place your order and pay for it up front each month (we'll post the menu and ordering information). You must pick your order up on the Saturday listed between 9:00 am and noon, and you must have your receipt or proof of identity. We will not release an order to anyone other than you or someone with your receipt.

Once we have enough orders each month, we will receive additional units, which the church can distribute to families who are in need in our community (we're excited about that part...)

Ok - you've convinced me - how do I sign up?
Each month, we'll post the menu and sign up information on the front page of our website. You'll also be able to order through the church on dates that will be posted here. Pick-ups are in our gym. It's that simple.
